Early Intervention

What is Early Intervention?

The mission of Illinois’ Early Intervention program is to assure families who have infants and toddlers (birth-3) with diagnosed disabilities, developmental delays or substantial risk of significant delays, receive resources and support that assist them in maximizing their child’s development. Does Early Intervention include ABA?

YES! Early Intervention (IL) now covers ABA. But, did you know you have a choice in your approved provider? Knowledge is power and we are here to help! When beginning the EI process make sure you:

1. Ask your service coordinator for a list of providers.

2. Do your homework on each provider.

3. Request the approved provider that is the best fit for your child.

How can we help?

We provide treatment to children in Early Intervention who may soon be, or are already, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our Behavior Analyst aides in addressing behaviors which are interfering with treatment from other providers such as Speech Therapists, Developmental Therapists, etc.

Selma Martinez is 1 of 20 fully-credentialed IL State Approved Early Intervention BCBA Providers. Why? With a Masters in Early Childhood Special Ed, Ms. Martinez has met the experience and education required to provide treatment to children through the IL State Early Intervention program.

Early Intervention

A number of studies indicate that, when implemented intensively (more than 20 hours per week) and early in life (beginning prior to the age of 4 years), ABA may produce large gains in development and reductions in the need for special services (Reichow, 2012); however, large studies with strong experimental designs are needed to confirm the results reported for intensive, early intervention.
